OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Davenport men's golf team turned in its best performance of the season on Friday and Saturday as it placed second out of 12 teams at Kentucky Wesleyan's Panther Invitational. The Panthers turned in a team score of 612 (+36), just one stroke off the first-place team, McKendree. Individually, DU's
Brandon Bodis and
Ryan Kauppila were both part of the six-way tie for second place with a two-day score of 150 (+6).
This effort marks Davenport's best finish in a tournament with at least 10 teams competing since the Hanover Spring Invite on April 9-10, 2016 (2nd/10). Regardless of how many programs were participating, the Panthers won the Ohio Valley Mister Bee Intercollegiate on April 13-14, 2019 (1st/4).
Individually, Bodis (77-73) moved up 13 spots in round two while Kauppila (76-74) improved his ranking by nine slots. Also competing for Davenport were
Noah Bridgeman in a tie for eighth with a 151 (+7, 73-78),
Dominic Ciantar in a tie for 30th with a 161 (+17, 82-79) and
Tyler Kapcia in 58th with a 177 (+33, 91-86) in his first collegiate tournament.
Next up on the schedule for Davenport is the Ohio Valley Mister Bee Invitational on April 9-11 at the Green Hills Country Club in Ravenswood, W.V.
