Men finish fifth and women sixth at GLIAC Indoor Championships

Emma Schafer had a three-peat in the pentathlon
UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The track and field teams concluded their two-day GLIAC Indoor Championships hosted by Saginaw Valley State on Sunday. The Panthers would finish fifth on the men's side with 56.5 points, while the women finished sixth with 28.33 points. 

PODIUM FINISHES
  • Emma Schafer won the pentathlon for the third straight time and totaled 3,525 points. She scored enough for a provisional mark to potentially qualify for nationals and is currently 11th in Division II.
  • Mitchell McKelvey placed second in the pole vault clearing 14' 11" and earned eight team points. He also was able to set a personal best in the event.
  • Noah Dooley finished second in the heptathlon with 5,170 points and missed his personal best by one point. He made a provisional mark and currently sits 10th in Division II.
  • Stacia Rispress claimed second place in the high jump at 5' 2.5" and shared second with two other competitors. 
  • Isaiah Schafer took second place in the shot put with a toss of 60' 1.75". He hit a provisional mark and beat his personal best by over two feet. Today's showing puts him seventh in Division II.
OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
  • Mackenzie Brigham finished sixth in the long jump with a distance of 17' 1.5" and set a personal best. Brigham also finished seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 34' 6.75".
  • Colin Grady finished fourth in the long jump with a distance of 22' 5" and earned five team points.
  • Ethan Flores set a provisional mark of 8.08 in the 60-meter hurdles during the prelims on Saturday. That time is currently eighth in Division II. He finished just off the podium in fourth place during the finals with a time of 8.21 and earned five team points.
  • Demetri Griffin placed sixth in the triple jump at 40' 0" and earned three team points.
  • Emma Schafer wound up finishing sixth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.22 seconds.
  • Corbin DeJonge finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.51.
  • The men's 4x400 meter relay finished fourth with a time of 3:28.39 and earned five team points. Grady, LaLonde, Graham and DeJonge were members of the relay.
  • Ryan Olson finished fourth in the men's heptathlon with 4,706 points and easily beat his previous personal best in the event.
  • Bryce Albrecht finished fifth in the heptathlon with 4,606 points and set a personal best.
