INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee has announced the participants for the 2021 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. A total of 566 participants, 283 men and 283 women, will compete in the championships. Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching the automatic and provisional standards established for each event. The championships will be held May 27-29 in Allendale, Michigan at the Grand Valley State Track & Field Stadium. Grand Valley State University and the West Michigan Sports Commission will serve as co-hosts of the championships. The championships will be streamed live on www.NCAA.com.
Isaiah Schafer, a junior from Pewamo, Mich., will be competing in the shot put and discus for the Panthers. Schafer had the 14th-best mark of 176' 5" in the discus on May 11 and will compete on Friday, May 28 at 2:05 PM. He then will throw in the shot put on Saturday, May 29 at 2:00 PM and had the 10th-best mark of 59' 9" back on April 10.
Emma Schafer, a senior from Pewamo, Mich., qualified in the heptathlon during the GLIAC Championships on May 5 with 5,067 points. She has the 10th-best point total and will do four events (100 hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200 meters) on Thursday and finish up with long jump, javelin and 800 meters on Friday.
