GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport cross country teams kicked off the 2019 season by competing at the Knight Invitational, hosted by Calvin College. The meet took place at the Gainey Athletic Facility in Grand Rapids.
The men competed in the collegiate 8K and were led by senior
Thomas VanSlembrouck, who finished 24
th individually with a time of 25:51.3.
Joey Fox clocked the second fastest time for DU, finishing in 28:06.2. Not far behind Fox was
TJ Moore, who recorded a time of 28:15.6.
Brad Hotovy finished in 29:30.3,
Hunter Nelson in 30:15.2 and
Brendan McCoy in 30:54.3. The men's team took 22
nd place at the meet.
The women's team ran in the open 6K and finished 11
th as a team. The women were led by
Julianna Wilson, who finished 23
rd overall in the race.
Erin Dorn placed 57
th with a time of 27:54.7 and
Autumn Hancock 59
th with a time of 28:07.7.
McKenna Evans finished 65
th with a time of 28:43.5, while
Britney Medcoff finished with a time of 29:27.9.
Davenport will compete next in the GRCC Raider Invitational on Friday, September 20.
