NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - For the first time in school history, the Davenport women's lacrosse program has earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Region honors. Tuesday morning, senior attacker
Ryann Deuel, freshman midfielder
Anna Glynn, and junior attacker
Aaliyah Miller were named IWLCA Second-Team All-Region. Deuel, Glynn and Miller were three of 32 student-athletes representing the Midwest Region and 128 in Division II. Those student-athletes are now eligible to be named to an IWLCA All-American Team. The IWLCA will announce the 2021 All-American Teams and Players of the Year in June.
Miller, the 2021 GLIAC Attacker of the Year and two-time
GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week in 2021 (
March 16 and
April 26), led the
GLIAC in assists (29) while also finishing second in points (75), tied for second in free-position goals (12), tied for second in goals (46), third in total shots (82), and third in shots on goal (68).
Her freshman teammate and 2021 GLIAC Freshman of the Year,
Glynn, scored more points than anyone else in the conference with 78 to go with 53 goals (first), 17 free-position goals (first), 91 shots (second), 71 shots on goal (second), and 25 assists (tied for second). The freshman was named
GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week on
April 12 and became the program's first-ever
IWLCA National Offensive Player of the Week on
April 13.
Deuel, the school's all-time leader in draw controls with 441, had 88 more of them in 2021, more than anyone else in the league. Among the league's leaders, No. 9 was also first in total shots (94), tied for second in goals (46), fifth in points (53), and was part of Davenport's three-headed offensive monster alongside Miller and Glynn. Those three combined for 145 goals, 61 assists, 267 shots, 211 shots on goal, and a shot-on-goal percentage over .750.
Davenport's historic 2021 season also included the following:
- First wins against four different opponents (Tiffin, Findlay, Walsh, and Concordia-St. Paul)
- First NCAA Top-25 ranking
- First IWLCA National Offensive Player of the Week (Glynn on April 13)
- Program record eight players named All-GLIAC including four First Team, three Second Team and one Honorable Mention
- First major award winners in Glynn (Freshman of the Year) and Miller (Attacker of the Year)
- Program record five GLIAC Players of the Week
- First GLIAC Tournament win and GLIAC Tournament finals appearance
- Seventh 10-win season in program history
