GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The top two seeds in the 2021 GLIAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament will meet in the finals on Sunday at noon as second-seeded/No. 25 Davenport travels to Allendale to take on top-seeded/No. 12 Grand Valley State. The Panthers (11-2, 6-2 GLIAC) will look to win for the first time in three meetings this season as the Lakers (11-2, 8-0 GLIAC) won the first two with scores of 15-13 in Allendale on April 10 and 20-15 in Grand Rapids on April 27.
Grand Valley State leads the all-time series with Davenport, 9-1, including 6-0 since the Panthers joined the GLIAC prior to the 2018 season. However, their two meetings this season were much closer than the all-time series suggests. In Allendale on April 10, Davenport had the lead at halftime, 7-5, and the score was tied 13-13 with just under seven and a half minutes to play. In the rematch, Davenport trailed by only two, 15-13, at the 9:19 mark of the second half, and just three, 18-15, with under three minutes on the clock.
