Panthers have one last tune up before GLIAC Championships

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The track and field teams traveled to Grand Valley State for the GVSU Tune Up on Friday and it was the last chance to shine before the GLIAC Indoor Championships set for next weekend at Saginaw Valley State.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

Ethan Flores broke the school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.12, which also is a national qualifying mark and currently ranks him 8th in the country. Flores also ran in the 200 meters finishing with a personal best of 22.93.
Isaiah Schafer hit the national qualifying mark in the weight throw (60' 1.75"), ranking him 22nd in the country. It was also the third farthest throw in DU history. Schafer was also third in the shot put at 55' 9.25".
Leialani Akalaonu finished fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 26.68 to set a personal best.
Riley Kinnee finished third in the 400 meters with a time of 1:04.20 to set a personal best.
Emma Schafer and Alexandra Eby finished 1-2 in the 60-meter hurdles. Schafer crossed the line at 9.24 while Eby was 9.37. Schafer also placed fifth in the long jump (16' 5").
Mackenzie Brigham finished third in the triple jump (34' 11.75") and set a personal best.
Lisa Wangler took fourth place in the weight throw with a toss of 51' 4.5".
Brendan LaLonde placed second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.14 and just beat out teammate Colin Grady (7.15).
LaLonde also finished with a time of 22.80 in the 200 meters and set a personal best in both events.
T.J. Moore finished second in the mile with a time of 4:31.80 and set a personal best.
Noah Dooley and Mitchell McKelvey each cleared 14' 9" in the pole vault.
Demetri Griffin placed second in the triple jump (41' 3.75") and set a personal best.
