ORLANDO, Fla. – Davenport is down in Florida for their annual spring break trip and the Panthers have opened the trip going 3-1. After falling in their first match to Rollins College, DU has won three straight. They defeated Rose-Hulman 8-1, Hanover 7-0, and Augustana 5-0. The Panthers have two more matches remaining on their trip, which will both be played tomorrow (Thursday).
Match 1: Davenport-0 | Rollins-7
Doubles Competition
Singles Competition
- Johansen lost in first singles 6-1 in both sets.
- McClurg took his opponent to extra games in the first set, but lost 7-5. He then fell 6-2 in the second set, falling in two sets in two singles.
- In third singles, van Antwerpen fell 6-0 and 6-2.
- Bulmer was the only one to win a set in singles. He won 6-4 in the second set, but fell 7-5 in the third set.
- In fifth singles, Digby lost 6-4 and 6-1.
- Leatherman fell 6-3 and 6-0 in six singles.
Match 2: Davenport-8 | Rose-Hulman-1
Doubles Competition
- Davenport swept all three of the doubles matches. In first doubles McClurg and Bulmer teamed up for an 8-6 win.
- In second doubles, van Antwerpen and Johansen earned a 8-3 win.
- Lastly, Digby and Matias Vargas won 8-2 in third doubles.
Singles Competition
- The lone loss in singles came in one singles. Vargas competed in one singles and fell 4-6, 6-4, and 1-0 (10-6).
- Johansen handled his opponent easily in two singles, winning 6-4 and 6-1.
- In third singles, McClurg won 6-2 and 6-3.
- Van Antwerpen earned a win in four singles, winning 6-3 in both sets.
- In fifth singles, Bulmer had the largest margin of victory. He won 6-1 and 6-2.
- Digby won 6-4 and 6-3 in six singles.
Match 3: Davenport-7 | Hanover-0
Doubles Competition
- Davenport was dominant in doubles against Hanover, winning all three matches and only losing a combined four games.
- In first doubles, Bulmer and McClurg won 6-1.
- Johansen and van Antwerpen earned a 6-2 win in two doubles.
- In third doubles, Vargas and Digby won 6-1.
Singles Competition
- Vargas competed in first singles and won 6-2 and 6-1.
- In two singles, Johansen won easily by a score of 6-0 and 6-2.
- McClurg won 7-5 and 6-2 in third singles.
- In four singles, van Antwerpen had the largest margin of victory. He only lost one game, winning 6-0 and 6-1.
- Bulmer earned a 6-0 and 6-2 victory in five singles.
- Lastly, Digby won 6-3 and 6-2 in six singles.
Match 4: Davenport-5 | Augustana-0
Doubles Competition
- The Panthers earned a single point in doubles, winning all three matches.
- McClurg and Bulmer earned a 6-4 win in first doubles.
- In two doubles, van Antwerpen and Johansen won 6-1.
- Digby and Vargas won 6-4 in three doubles.
Singles Competition
- Vargas and Johansen went unfinished in one and two singles.
- In three singles, McClurg handled his opponent with ease, winning 6-1 and 6-0.
- In four singles, van Antwerpen won 6-1 in both sets.
- Bulmer earned a 6-1 and 6-2 win in five singles.
- Digby held the fort down in six singles, winning 6-0 and 6-2.
