SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Davenport traveled up north for the weekend and opened the trip with a match at Lake Superior State. The Panthers started the weekend on a great note, defeating the Lakers 6-3 to earn their first road GLIAC win of the season.
Remy Johansen came ready to play, winning in both singles and doubles. Davenport improves to 4-1 in conference play with the victory and sits in seconds place in the GLIAC.

Doubles Competition
The doubles matches tipped in the Panthers favor, outscoring the Lakers 2-1 in the three matches. The team of
Marc Lerch and
Juan-Louis van Antwerpen won 8-4 in first doubles. In second doubles
Jonathan Bulmer and
Matthew McClurg fell 8-3. Johansen and
Max Hartman won a tight match in the third doubles slot, defeating Joe Gilman and Peter Summers 8-6.
Singles Competition
Lerch and Antwerpen lost in their singles matches. Antwerpen lost in second singles and Lerch in first singles. Davenport swept the remaining singles matches, earning them a 4-2 advantage in the singles competition.
Michael Digby had the quickest victory in singles, defeating Peter Summers 6-0 and 6-2 in sixth singles. Johansen, McClurg, and Bulmer all had close matches. In third singles McClurg took three sets to get the win, going 6-3, 4-6, and 6-3 to get the 2-1 win. Bulmer took a 7-6 and 6-3 win in fourth singles, while Johansen won 7-6 and 7-5 in the fifth singles spot.

The Panthers remain up north and travel to Houghton, Mich. to take on Michigan Tech. This match will start around 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 8.
