GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – In their first year of competing in NCAA Division II and the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) the Panthers finished 5-3 in conference play. In addition, Davenport snagged the fifth seed in the upcoming GLIAC Tournament.
The Panthers are one of six teams to make the men's tennis GLIAC Tournament and face fourth seeded Grand Valley State University. The two teams played an extremely close match back on April 4. The Lakers took the 5-4 victory during the only regular season match between the two teams. Matthew, McClurg,
Jonathan Bulmer, and
Remy Johansen all won their singles matches. The duo of
Juan-Louis van Antwerpen and
Marc Lerch won in first doubles as well.
The two teams take to the courts late tonight to determine who advances to the semifinals against the number one seed in Ferris State University. The match starts at 6:45 p.m. tonight in Midland, Mich. All of the matches in the GLIAC Tournament will be taking place at the Greater Midland Community Tennis Center.
