GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The men's tennis team won their season opener on Friday afternoon by a score of 6-3 over Lake Superior State. The Panthers were forced to forfeit two of the team points and still managed to pick up a victory.
LSSU captured the first point in one doubles by a score of 8-6.
Haja Denise and
Kevin Slagh evened the match with an 8-6 win at two doubles. The third doubles point went to LSSU by forfeit.
The Panthers won five points in singles as they swept through the Laker lineup.
Matthew McClurg won 6-3, 6-1 at one singles over Jake Prime.
Juan-Philip van Antwerpen went three sets against Ieuan Lister winning the first set 6-1 and then dropped the second set 7-5. He won the third set 6-4.

Kevin Slagh also won in straight sets for the Panthers in singles play.
