Women’s Lacrosse Concludes Three Game Home Stand against Fort Lewis

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport women's lacrosse team will conclude their three game home stand as they play their third game at home in six days. The Panthers are currently 5-0 on the season and are ranked second in the NWLL coaches' poll. The opening draw between Davenport and Fort Lewis College is slated for 4 p.m. on Monday from the DU Turf Field.

A Quick Look at Fort Lewis
Fort Lewis is a NCAA DII program that plays in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, and the Skyhawks come into the weekend with 3-1 record overall and is 1-0 in conference play. The only loss on the season for Fort Lewis came against Regis (Colo.), in a non-conference match. Taylor Cabrera is the leading goal scorer for the Skyhawks with nine goals on the year, while Ellie Carpenter and Rebecca Miller are the only players above the ten point mark, with 11 and ten, respectively. In goal, three different players have appeared in net for Fort Lewis combining for 6.52 goals against average, along with a .490 save percentage.
 
Last Time Out for the Skyhawks
In the last game for Fort Lewis, they opened their 2015 conference schedule last week with a 15-2 win over Adams State, where the Skyhawks had 11 different players score their 15 goals. Taylor Cabrera led the way for Fort Lewis with three goals, while Jam Vertner and Rebecca Miller each tallied two goals.
 
Touring West Michigan
Fort Lewis, who hails from Durango, Colo., will tour the West Michigan area as they start with Davenport on Monday evening, before they travel down the Beltline to face Aquinas College on Tuesday. The Skyhawks will then face NCAA DII foe, Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich., on Thursday night.
 
Last Time Out for the Panthers
The last time out for Davenport, they took on Lawrence Tech in a battle of two top-three teams in the NWLL. After neither team could grab the momentum of the game in the early going, Davenport was able to go on a 4-0 run to jump out to 6-2 lead, and they never looked back as they led 13-6 at the half. The Panthers continued to stretch their lead as they took a 17-6 lead to start the second half, as second-ranked Davenport went on to beat third-ranked Lawrence Tech, 19-10.
