Rachel Griffin Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

CoSIDA Release

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The 2020-21 Academic All-District® Softball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Rachel Griffin, a junior infielder from Jackson, Mich. (Napoleon HS), has been selected as one of 11 student-athletes in District 4 (NCAA Division II) to receive this honor. Griffin was one of four infielders amongst the group and one of four Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honorees as well.

Griffin is a medical case management major at Davenport and all nominees needed to possess a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30 and also combine their athletic prowess to be nominated. Griffin, who was hitting an absurd .392 before the 2020 season was shut down, picked up right where she left off in 2021.The 2021 Second-Team All-GLIAC performer led the Panthers in batting average (.353), OPS (1.068), runs scored (36), RBIs (30), total bases (86), and slugging percentage (.647) while also finishing in a tie for first in both hits (47) and homeruns (8). Not only that, but the DU standout was also named GLIAC Player of the Week for the second time in her career on April 19.
