SANDUSKY, Ohio - Facing elimination for the second-straight game, the Davenport softball team was tasked with Wayne State on Wednesday morning, day two of the 2021 GLIAC Tournament. The Panthers notched six hits, but were unable to get a run across as the Warriors shut them out with a score of 3-0. Davenport's season comes to a close with an overall record of 23-23 while Wayne State (23-20) moves on to face Purdue Northwest.
Emma Miller (11-9) suffered the loss in the circle after four innings pitched and two earned runs allowed on four hits with one walk and one strikeout. In relief,
Ellie Muilenburg pitched the final three innings with one earned run surrendered on three hits, no free passes and two punchouts.
Offensively, Davenport's contributions came from
Alexis Koza (2-for-3),
Nikki Szost (2-for-3),
Lindsay Goodman (1-for-3), and Muilenburg (1-for-2). Koza tallied the Panthers' lone extra-base hit with a triple in the fourth inning while her and
Rachel Griffin each notched a stolen base.
