GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The third-seeded Davenport softball team will take on sixth-seeded Purdue Northwest to open the 2021 GLIAC Tournament. First pitch on Tuesday between the Panthers and Pride will be on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Sports Force Parks in Sandusky, Ohio. Win or lose, Davenport will play again at 4 p.m. against either the No. 2 seed, Northwood, or the No. 7 seed, Parkside. Purdue Northwest took two of three against Davenport in the regular season, but the Panthers lead the all-time series, 7-3.
Davenport (22-21, 18-13 GLIAC) enters the tournament on a two-game winning streak, but has dropped four of its last seven games. while Purdue Northwest (14-24, 11-16 GLIAC) has won four of its last six outings. In Grand Rapids on April 2, the Pride won game one, 7-5, before the Panthers rebounded in the nightcap, 6-4. Game three between the two teams was won by Purdue Northwest, 4-3, before the fourth and final game of the series was cancelled because of weather.
