CSGO Varsity:

The CS:GO team has had a good run this year in all leagues. We finished CSL with a top-16 placement in playoffs. We finished NACE in third place. Within the next few weeks starts NACCS playoffs where we are placed as the sixth seed. Lastly, we began ESEA playoffs and won the first two games.

CSGO Academy:

It was a relaxing week for the CSGO Academy team this week as they wait for their official matchup in the NACCS playoffs. A team that started out 1-5 finished winning four games in a row to end the regular season 5-5, landing them a 26th seed and a lock into playoffs. The team was slightly disjointed this week with various academic and personal obligations which limited the amount of practice they could get in. Despite that, each member of the team worked on their own to get individual work in.

Overwatch:

This week, Davenport beat Purdue Fort Wayne in the TESPA Collegiate Championship Series 3-0. The team only lost two fights all game and showed a mix of creativity and teamwork to come out with a decisive victory. The match was streamed on the Davenport Esports twitch page at https://twitch.tv/davenport_esports. It was casted by Overwatch players Kenny Bennet and Mae Zurita.

We finished TESPA/OWCC at 6-4 (we finished 4-6 in the fall) which left us one win shy of making the playoffs. As for the GBCC Spring Cup we smashed Purdue Fort Wayne 3-0 to secure fourth place. They haven't announced yet if there will be a playoff involved after the season, but the team has improved immensely during the season and I could honestly see us as the second best team behind Kansas.

League of Legends:

On March 25, Davenport University LoL Varsity was matched against University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The match was a best-of-3 and UWEC won both games. The first game started off at an even position but started a slight advantage towards the side of UWEC. After 25 minutes, UWEC accumulated a stronger lead and secured the victory. The second game started off the same and progressed the same as well - with UWEC gaining a slight advantage. Davenport was able to slow the lead of UWEC throughout the later half of the game, but was overall unsuccessful in turning the game around - ending the best of 3 with a result of 0-2.

Coach's Note: Following the 0-2 loss to UWEC, Head Coach Colin Graham contacted tournament officials to discuss the competitive integrity of the opposing team. Upon inspection of the opposing roster, one player in question had an account which the Head Coach, LoL roster, and an independent third party deemed suspicious due to playing the match in a lane not in line with games played, age of the account being less than one year old, and the skill level displayed in game. We are waiting on word back from tournament organizers regarding the match and hope for a favorable outcome.

Notes from the Coach's Desk:

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has kept up on the progress of the Davenport Esports program this year. We have had our mix of ups and downs, but have kept moving forward. With the school year coming to a close, many of our players and rosters are transitioning into their off-season. Because of this, updates will become more sparse in terms of competition results over the course of late spring through early fall. Myself and my staff will continue to provide you with team updates throughout the off-season, but they may be more recruitment, team activity, and team initiatives geared.

Once again, thank you for your continued support. It's our friends, family, and fans that keep our students gassed up and ready to compete day in and day out. I highly encourage you to follow us on all of our social media platforms to keep up with the most up-to-date information on the team as it becomes available. You can do so at the following locations:
