GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Women's Hockey team was back in action Friday night for the first of four meetings this season with the Aquinas College, their crosstown rivals.

The teams traded shots throughout the contest, but the Saints had the more dangerous chances, and they were able to take advantage of them to beat DU for the only the third time in the program's history.

Final Score: Davenport 0 – Aquinas 5
Shots: DU 31 | AQ 38

WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN

Aquinas was able to jump out to an early lead after Olivia Menard scored her second goal of the season. Later in the first, Alexandra Drevline scored her first collegiate goal to send the Saints into the intermission with a two-goal cushion.

The Saints ramped up the offense in the middle stanza, firing 17 shots on goal. DU netminder Julia Gaynor did all she could to keep the puck out of the net, but Morgan Kozar scored just passed the halfway mark of the period to make it 3-0 Aquinas.

The Saints capped off the night with goals from Amelia Bartels and Mikalya Oppermann to go home with the 5-0 win.

WHO'S NEXT?

The two teams meet again Saturday night, this time at Southside Ice Arena in Byron Center. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.
