HOLLAND, Mich. – For the first time this, the D3 Hockey team took to the ice. They traveled a little west to Holland to meet longtime Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference (MCHC) rival, Hope College. The Flying Dutchmen came into the weekend set, riding a 13-game win streak against the Panthers, dating back to 2014.
The Flying Dutchmen controlled the play from the get-go, and never let up, staying perfect to begin their 2021 season.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
While the Panthers were not able to find the back of the net, their goaltender did everything he could to not allow any in the back of his. Sophomore
Barrett Rosser stopped 56 of the 62 shots he face, including 20 in the opening 20 minutes.
ANCHORS AWAY
Hope was able to take advantage of a power play early in the first period, as Brendan Sanders scored his first of the season to put the Flying Dutchmen out in front. Less than a minute later, Nolan Convertini scored his first of the season to make it 2-0. Jake Zwiers scored a few minutes later to give Hope a three-goal lead into the first intermission.
In period two, Logan Faustyn found the back of the net to further extend the Hope lead, with Nico Stamas scoring his first of the season to give the Dutchmen a 5-0 lead. Sanders scored his second of the game late in regulation, and Hope would take the first game of the weekend by a final score of 6-0.

The Panthers and Flying Dutchmen come to Patterson on Saturday to wrap up their weekend set. Puck drop is scheduled for 9 p.m.
