The sophomore now leads the team with eight goals

Written by Tyler Kuehl

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – After a rather disappointing tie against Calvin on Wednesday, the D3 Hockey team traveled back down to Indiana for another weekend set against Indiana Tech.

The Warriors played another tight game against the Panthers. Even though they hung around deep into regulation, the Panthers were able to pull the win on Friday night.

QUICK STATS

Final Score: Davenport 4 – Indiana Tech 2
Power Play: DU (1/3) | ITU (0/4)
Records: #10 DU (6-4-1) | ITU (1-8)

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

Aiden Dion and Kevin Crawley led the Panthers with three points each, as Dion scored twice while assisting on another, with Crawley finding the back of the net, with a pair of assists in the win. Barrett Rosser was solid in net, earning his fifth win of the season.

SCRAPING OUT A WIN

The Panthers, similar to Wednesday night, found themselves out in front in the first period, after Hunter Tolsdorf potted his fourth goal of the season. However, the Warriors tied the game early in period two after Jake Gibson was able to sneak one by Rosser.

Davenport answered back with a little over five minutes remaining in the frame, as Crawley scored his second goal of the week, sixth of the season. Less than two minutes later, Dion extended the DU lead to two after his team-leading seventh goal of the season, and the Panthers led 3-1 heading into the final frame.

The Warriors made it interesting in the third period, as Sean Stutzman scored to make it a 3-2 game. Yet, DU found a way to prevail as Dion scored his second of the game late in regulation, and DU skated away with the 4-2 victory.

WHO'S NEXT?

DU will wrap up their regular season against the Warriors on Saturday. Puck drop, once again from the SportOne/Parkview Icehouse, is set for 4:30 p.m.
