CHELSEA, Mich. – The women's hockey team made their way across the state to finish up their five-game road swing against the Concordia (Mich.) Cardinals. DU was looking to get back on the winning side of things following a pair of losses down at Penn State last weekend.

Davenport jumped out in front, but the home Cardinals came back to take the lead in the second period. Courtney Mulligan game back with a pair in the middle frame to get DU their lead back. Concordia would tie it late in the period, before a goaltender played the hero in the third period.

Shots: DU 38 | CUAA 27
Power Play: DU (0/4) | CUAA (0/4)

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

Mulligan ended up tallying her third hat trick of the season. Elizabeth and Amanda Ballestero each chimed in with a pair of assists for DU.

Dayna Templeton earned her first win as a Panther, making 24 saves in the effort.

STUNNED VISITORS

Davenport would find themselves in the lead after a few early chances, as Mulligan set up Ballestero for her third of the season to give DU the lead just over five minutes in.

However, the Cardinals, who had only scored five goals in their entire season coming into the game, would answer late in the period, Adrianna Rugiero scored her first of the season to tie the game at one.

Into the second period, the Cardinals would take the lead following Rugiero's second of the game just passed the halfway mark of the period.

BACK TO THE LEAD

Davenport would take the play back to the Concordia, and just a few minutes after Rugiero's second of the game, Mulligan found the back of the net for the 15th time this season to bring the game even at two. Minutes later, Mulligan would score again to give Davenport their second lead of the game.

EXCITING FINISH

The Cardinals would bounce back to tie the game again in the final minute of the second period with Kassidy Scheben scoring her first of the year.

In the third period, Davenport would pursue their third lead of the game, and they would get it after Julia Gaynor, who was skating out in the game, scored her third of the season just before the halfway mark of the frame. Templeton and the Panthers would shut the door the rest of the way to go home with the 4-3 victory.

WHO'S NEXT?

The Panthers come back home for the first time in two weeks to take on the Cardinals for the second night in a row. Saturday will also be Senior, as the Panthers will honor Caitlin Miscovich, Olivia Rudberg, Zoie Amatore and Amanda Ballestero as they play in their final home games as Panthers.
