INDIANAPOLIS - In its first meet since a scrimmage against Division III Alma College in Coral Springs, Fla. on Dec. 19, the Davenport University women's swimming and diving team was back in action on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers traveled to Indianapolis for a quad meet, but fell to some stiff competition in the No. 3 Greyhounds (246-54), No. 10 Lindenwood (199-101) and No. 13 Grand Valley State (211-89).

"Today was a good learning experience for our team," said head coach,
Justin Vasquez. "We got to swim and dive against some of the best Division II swimming and diving programs in the country, all of which are currently ranked in the TYR's top 25. The competition was tough and we did a good job of competing with the opponents."
Davenport finished with five top-five performances, three of which involved freshman and three-time GLIAC Swimmer of the Week,
Emma Wallis. Wallis placed third in the 100 breast (1:08.49), fourth in the 200 breast (2:27.16) and fourth in the 200 IM (2:12.59).
The Panthers were also among the top five in a pair of relays including the 200 free relay (fifth - 1:41.99) and 400 medley relay (fifth - 4:04.79). The quartet for the 200 free relay was
Anna Wooters,
Jenna Schrotenboer,
Lauren Bockheim, and
Riley Faulkner. In the 400 medley relay, it was Bockheim,
Victoria Postmus,
Jesica Smit, and Faulkner.
Next up on the schedule, Davenport will be at Bowling Green on Friday with the action set to begin at 5 p.m.
