Bowlers let it rip at AHIBC I & II

CANTON, Mich. - The Davenport bowling teams cruised into the AHIBC I & II over the weekend. The men's team placed themselves into 10th in the first session and seventh in the second session. In addition, the women's team placed 15th in the first session and 14th in the second session.

The men's team totaled 6,643 pins in the AHIBC I event. Logan Smith tied for ninth place with an average of 205. The individuals rolled five games with his best game of 246 in the first game. Brandon Hyska placed 32nd with an average of 188.8 and had a high of 214 in the second game. Josh Hamilton averaged 185 with a 214 in the fourth game of the block.

DU had a seventh place finish in AHIBC II with a pinfall of 6,465 and Bowling Green took the title with 6,979. Hyska was the top finisher of all bowlers by a margin of 70 pins. He averaged 231.25 for his four games. He rolled a 200-plus in all four games with a best of 266 in the third game. Grant Oehler placed ninth with an average of 204. He rolled his final three at 200-plus with a high of 237 in the third game of the block. Robert Lynch averaged 177.75 and placed 50th.

Merisa Batkins topped the women's side for the Panthers and placed 47th in AHIBC I. She averaged 160 for five games and had a best of 180 in the fourth game. Mikaela VanDuinen placed in 65th with a total of 722 (144.4 average). Batkins improved to 33rd place in AHIBC II. She averaged 165 in the four games she bowled. Marisa Bacon placed 38th overall with an average of 159.5. VanDuinen placed 72nd with an average of 129.75.
