Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Davenport University Dance Team is excited to announce their newest promotion of Shelby Poch to Assistant Coach. Poch, a Davenport University graduate and alumni, graced the stage and competed NDA with the team for five seasons between 2010-2016. She has worked with current Coach, Kylene Geyer, in multiple facets of dance throughout the past 15 years. "We are extremely lucky to still have Alumni, such as Shelby within the dance community and Greater Grand Rapids area, her passion for this University and team are only going to help drive us further towards our dreams." Geyer stated. "...the support from both Shelby and current Volunteer Coach Daishia Lopez are imperative for us to provide the well-rounded experience we strive for all of our athletes. From upholding academics, being engaged in the community, supporting their growth into adulthood and of course to reach our competitive goals, it takes an army, and I am so happy they are both by my side".

Poch currently resides in Grand Rapids, Mich. Shelby has been dancing since the age of two, and has been trained in all styles of dance. She graduated from Davenport University with a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, and a Master's Degree in Business Administration. While attending Davenport, she was on the dance team for five years, and also a member of the Grand Rapids Drive dance team for two years. After graduating from Davenport, Shelby then went on to pursue an audition for the Detroit Lions where she became a member of their cheerleading team for two seasons. Being a member of the Lions cheerleading team gave her the opportunity to perform with music stars Jason Derulo and Andy Grammer. She now works here in Grand Rapids as a dance instructor at Imprint Dance Company, and signed with a few talent agencies across Michigan. Shelby hopes to use all of the knowledge she learned being on the Davenport Dance Team to push the team to be the best student-athletes they can be!
