Panthers Drop 3-1 Decision to Calvin

Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The men's Division III hockey battled hard against Calvin who is ranked third in the North region before falling 3-1 at Patterson Ice Center on Saturday. Both teams came out hungry and played with intensity. The Panthers dropped an 8-0 decision on Friday night at Calvin but were determined to play better on Saturday. Andrew Habasevich was standing on his head between the pipes for Davenport as he made big saves in the first period. The Knights broke the scoreless tie in the second as Ryan Betts scored at 7:43 from Noah Szenderski and Ryan Bradley. In the waning minutes of the second, Calvin made it 2-0 as Betts scored again unassisted. The Panthers scored at 5:51 of the third period as Skyler Emelander took a pass from Bailey Rietman on the power play to cut the deficit in half. The Panthers could not find the equalizer and the Knights finished it with an empty-net goal by Austin Bliznik with 54 seconds left.
