LEWISTON, Idaho – The Davenport baseball team will be making program history Friday as the Panthers will be making their first ever appearance in the Avista-NAIA World Series against host Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) at the Warriors' Harris Field in Lewiston, Idaho, Friday at 9:30 p.m. EDT. How they got to Lewiston
The Panthers, who are in their second straight appearance in the NAIA National Championship, earned a ticket to Idaho with after winning the Grand Rapids bracket last week. They defeated Mount Vernon Nazarene in the opener and then took 2-of-3 against the bracket's top-seed Oklahoma Wesleyan at Davenport's Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex.
 
About the Avista-NAIA World Series
The World Series is a 10-team, double-elimination tournament with the winner being crowned either May 28 or 29, depending on if the eventual national champion drops one of its earlier round games. Davenport, the fifth seed in the tournament, is coming off having a 3-1 record to win the program's first NAIA Opening Round bracket at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex this past week. The fourth-seeded Warriors, meanwhile, received a bye to the World Series as the host.
