FINDLAY, Ohio - Leading by just one goal at the half on Friday at Findlay, 9-8, the Davenport University women's lacrosse team outscored the Oilers, 8-3, in the second half en route to a 17-11 road win and 2-0 record. Next up on the schedule, Davenport will make its 2021 home debut on Wednesday against Lawrence Tech with the opening draw scheduled for 6 p.m.
Davenport received scoring contributions from six different Panthers including
Aaliyah Miller (6 goals),
Ryann Deuel (3),
Anna Glynn (3),
Brenna Knoll (3),
Monique Vale (1), and
Reilly Noble (1). Assisting on seven of those 17 goals were Miller (3 assists), Noble (2), Knoll (1), and
Maddy Haynes (1).
Three different players tallied three ground balls apiece including Miller, Haynes and
Elizabeth Robinson while Haynes and
Amber Park each had a pair of caused turnovers. In goal,
Grace DeRidder got the start with three saves and her second win before giving way to
Tylor Baker who saved five Findlay shot attempts.
In the team head-to-head, the Panthers also led the Oilers in total shots (29-19), shots on goal (26-19), free-position shots (12-8), free-position goals (6-5), and draw controls (22-10). On the other side, Findlay held the advantage in saves (9-8), clears (6-5) and ground balls (23-20).
