ADRIAN, Mich. - The much-anticipated and long-awaited day arrived on Sunday for the women's wrestling program as they took to the mat for the first time at the Adrian College Invitational. The Panthers sent three wrestlers to southeast Michigan and they grappled with other wrestlers from Adrian, Trine and Gannon.
Elizabeth Palmer competed at 123 pounds but was unable to secure a victory in four matches. Three of those ended by fall and the final match was a technical fall.
Kelsey Novogradac wrestled at 136 pounds and placed seventh. She wrestled four times and was defeated by fall in those matchups.
Cole Schield was able to mark history with the first individual win at 136 pounds. She won her first match 10-0 by technical fall over Vivian Newcomer of Gannon. She finished fourth after dropping her next three matches, two by fall and one by a score of 12-6 against Elisa Cox of Adrian.
