Davenport Performs at Mid America Pompon States Competition

YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Davenport University pompon team competed on Sunday, Feb. 9 at the Mid American Pompon States Competition for the fourth-straight season and finished sixth in its division. The Panthers were able to increase their score from a year ago by 15.5 points and moved up from seventh to sixth. The competition took place in Eastern Michigan's Convocation Center and was the host to several other Michigan schools including Michigan State, Saginaw Valley State, Central Michigan, Grand Valley State, Washtenaw Community College, and Atomic Pom.

"The team has grown tremendously since the high kick competition in November," said head coach, Erin Engeseth. "We took more girls to states and trained harder than ever before. They have accomplished so much this season and they deserve every little victory they've achieved this year. With moving up to sixth and higher scores than last year, I am happy to say that we are already excited for next year and have already begun to prepare."
