Grand Rapids, Mich. - Davenport University pompon head coach, Erin Engeseth, has announced the hiring of her new assistant coach, Megan Guajardo. A native of St. Louis, Mich., Guajardo brings seven years of pompon experience to coach Engeseth's staff for 2019-20. Guajardo was a member of the Grand Valley State University pom team in 2014-15 before becoming a coach and choreographer at St. Louis for two years where she led them to a first-place showing in their division at the 2017 MAPP states competition with her choreography.

Guajardo earned her bachelor's degree in broadcast and cinematic arts from Central Michigan University. Not only does she bring traditional pom experience to DU, but she is in charge of choreography for sideline, home routines and showcases.

"I am excited to add Megan to the program," said Engeseth. "She will play a vital role with the team as she will be choreographing a lot of our new material including some of our competition routines. Her commitment to the life and body of the sport will prove to be extremely helpful as we enter this year with so many new goals for the program. I couldn't be more excited!"
