2015 Postseason Notes
Davenport is making their fourth trip to the NAIA National Tournament and are 5-2-2 all-time including the 2014 National Championship...MidAmerica Nazarene is making their sixth appearance to the national tournament and are 6-5-3 all-time with their best finish as semifinalists in 2012...MNU earned the fourth at-large selection and is the 10th-seed in the championship after getting bounced in the semifinals of the Heart of America Conference Tournament...The teams had one common opponent this season (Grand View) as DU beat them 2-1 on Sept. 6 and MNU beat them 3-2 on Oct. 3...The Pioneers are a very good passing team as evidenced by ranking 12th nationally in total assists (52) and 17th in assists per game (2.36)...MNU has also scored 57 goals this season which ranks 20th in NAIA and has eight shutouts ranking 26th...Tanner Hunjak has been the team's clutch performer with five game-winning goals (15th nationally) and has 11 total goals this season...Lucas Machado is a second option on offense for the Pioneers with 24 points (8 goals, 8 assists)...Cameron Wallace enters the contest with 23 points (9 goals, 5 assists)...MNU scored both of their goals in the second half against Vanguard in the second round...Eddie Morales was the man of the match with a goal in the 54th minute and an assist in the 57th minute on a goal by Wallace...Davenport had a streak of eight matches allowing one goal or less snapped in the 2-2 tie yesterday...Today's match is the first meeting between the schools...Jake Love scored his 10th goal of the season and 19th of his career yesterday...Alex Mendez has had a fantastic freshman season for DU with six goals and scored the team's second goal yesterday...Aaron Orban made four saves in 110 minutes of official play yesterday but saved his best two saves on the last two penalty kicks to help the Panthers advance to the quarterfinals...The last time DU was in penalty kicks was the first round of last year's tournament with an identical 5-4 result against Olivet Nazarene on Nov. 22...DU currently ranks 28th nationally with 54 goals and 30th with 39 assists.
