GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Before it can enjoy the Christmas Break, the No. 2 Davenport women's basketball team has booked a non-conference contest with the defending NAIA Division II champions and eighth-ranked Saint Francis (Ind.) Friday at 7 p.m. The Panthers and Cougars can be followed on the Davenport Athletics Network with Ken Clemens and Ed Keating calling the action.

A Quick Look at Saint Francis
The ninth-ranked Cougars are coming off a 53-50 Crossroads League defeat to No. 5 Indiana Wesleyan nearly three weeks ago in a matchup that featured the last two national champions. In fact, that was St. Francis' last contest. Akyah Taylor, who led USF scoring with 25 points, gave USF a 50-49 lead at 1:10 after she hit the second free throw (after missing the first), but USF didn't score again. Teneil Krebs scored with 52 seconds for a 51-50 IWU lead, but USF turned the ball over on its last three possessions in the game with a chance to tie or take the lead.  It was especially aggravating considering the Lady Cougars led 42-36 with 7:24 to play.
 
Panthers vs. Cougars
This will be the fourth meeting between Davenport and St. Francis. Although the Cougars won the first meeting in 2006, the Panthers went on to win the next two contests in 2007 and 2008.
 
The Last Time They Met
Dynamic duo Kallie Benike and Kristi Boehm both reached 20 points and combined for 43 as they helped Davenport come back from a 42-29 halftime deficit to defeating St. Francis 77-70 at the Student Center in 2008. Kendra Anderson finished with 11 points to round out the Panthers in double figures while Julie Janish led the rebounding department with nine. Turnovers became a factor as the Panthers forced 41 on the Cougars.
