A native of Flint, Mich., Clemens was an educator for 33 years, having taught at the high school level for 17 years and administrator for 16. He was selected as the Michigan Assistant Principal of the Year in 1993.
 
In addition to teaching in the classroom, Clemens coached high school athletics for 21 years. He served as an assistant coach for boys’ varsity basketball for two years before taking on the head coaching role for 16. He also coached varsity golf and tennis for a year and has been an assistant football coach for three. During his coaching career, Clemens won four Class A District and conference championships each.
 
Along with calling games on the D.A.N., Clemens provided his broadcast talent for football and basketball on the Michigan Sports Radio. He continues to broadcast the OK Conference Game of the Week.
 
A history graduate from Central Michigan University, Clemens earned lettered for the Chippewa varsity basketball team and played in the junior varsity squad his freshman year.
 
Clemens and his wife Dorothy reside in Holland. The couple has three children.
