Men finish first and women second at Davenport Panther Classic

CALEDONIA, Mich. - The Davenport track and field teams hosted the Davenport Panther Classic on Saturday which marked the first outdoor meet at Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex in nearly two years. The men finished first and the women finished second as both fields consisted of four other teams including Hope, Ferris State, Grand Valley State and Calvin. The men had 206 points in placing first and the women had 174 points behind Hope with 216. 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
  • Brendan LaLonde was victorious in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.07 and also won the 200 meters with a time of 22.38
  • Alexandra Eby won the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 15.34 and Stacia Rispress was second with a time of 15.76
  • Ethan Flores won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.64 and Corbin DeJonge was second with a time of 14.75
  • Leialani Akalaonu won the 200 meters in a time of 25.71
  • Josephine Sokol finished second in the 400-meter hurdles and crossed the line at 1:09.87
  • Scout Nelson won the 800 meters in a time of 2:17.85
  • Joey Fox claimed second place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:01.05
  • Shem Haas won the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:12.46
  • Les Miner raced to a win in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in a time of 10:01.63
  • Lisa Wangler won the hammer throw with a distance of 51.86 meters, placed second in the shot put (13.16 meters) and placed third in the discus throw with a toss of 36.74 meters
  • Claude Ockert won the hammer throw with a toss of 59.30 meters
  • Emma Schafer won the javelin throw with a mark of 37.67 meters and also placed second in the long jump at 5.15 meters
  • Mackenzie Brigham won the long jump and reached 5.20 meters and also placed second in the triple jump (10.17 meters)
  • Colin Grady won the long jump with a distance of 7.09 meters
  • Isaiah Schafer won the shot put with a toss of 17.93 meters
