ASHLAND, Ohio - The Davenport women's lacrosse team scored 23 goals on 31 shots (nearly 75 percent) in the rematch with Ashland on Sunday and made it look easy in a 23-3 victory over the Eagles. The 20-point margin represents the Panthers' most lopsided win of the Division II era and before that, it was a 32-1 success against Concordia (Mich.) on April 15, 2017. The triumph improves Davenport to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in GLIAC play with a non-conference date against Walsh on April 3 up next.
Ten different players were able to score for the Panthers (six with multiple goals) including
Maddy Haynes (4),
Anna Glynn (4),
Ryann Deuel (3),
Reilly Noble (3),
Brenna Knoll (3),
Erica Buckley (2),
Christine Steffes (1),
Jordyn Harrison (1),
Aaliyah Miller (1), and
Avery Garant (1). Aiding that offensive onslaught for Davenport were five different players with an assist including Noble (3), Haynes (2), Deuel (2), Miller (2), and Knoll (1).
Defensively, the freshman, Haynes, also led the Panthers in ground balls (5) and caused turnovers (4) while Deuel was on top of the draw control category once again (9). Also causing multiple turnovers for Davenport were Miller (3), Knoll (2), Harrison (2), and
Amber Park (2). In goal,
Grace DeRidder (pictured) started and played the entire first half with four saves before giving way to
Tylor Baker and her one save in the second half.
As a team, the Panthers shut down the Eagles on six of their nine clear attempts while going 4-for-6 in their own right and racked up 20 draw controls to the Eagles' seven. Davenport also converted on six of its nine free-position attempts.
