GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Grand Valley State shot 57.9 percent (33-of-57) from the field on Tuesday night, the highest mark for a Davenport opponent this season, and defeated the Panthers 85-60 to split the season series at one game apiece. Next up, Davenport will travel to Northern Michigan on Friday with the opening tip set for 1 p.m.
Three Panthers scored in double-figures including
Chris Rollins (17), who became the eighth member of the school's 1,000-point club,
Jarrin Randall (14) and
Evan Hines (11). Hines led the way in rebounds (6), Randall was on top of assists (3) and
James Felton had the team's lone block in his first career start. Rounding out the squad's leaders, both Rollins and
Chaz Birchfield each picked up three steals.
Grand Valley State scored the first 15 points of the night before Rollins finally got Davenport on the board with a three-pointer over four and a half minutes into the game. The Lakers never looked back as they would go on to lead by as many as 27 in the first half, 49-22, and 32 in the second, 75-43.
