PAINESVILLE, Ohio - It was another tough slate on Saturday afternoon as the Davenport wrestling team faced two more nationally-ranked teams and a very good Lake Erie squad. #9 Ashland and #7 Indianapolis were the second and third duals of the day and DU has now faced six top-25 opponents in seven duals this season in Division II.
Lake Erie and Ashland were identical 28-12 scores and Indy won 44-3 to wrap up the day as a GLVC matchup. Lake Erie and Ashland are wrestling member of the G-MAC.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
- River Fox (285 pounds) had a solid day for DU with two wins. He captured a win by fall at 6:04 against Ben Doehr of Lake Erie and then won the three points against Indy with a 3-1 decision against Jay Thompson. Fox now has four wins this season for the Panthers.
- Jordan Ringler (149 pounds) got a victory against Brandon Tenney of Lake Erie 4-3.
- Tyson Emmons (141 pounds) got his first victory of the season against Brady O'Connor of Lake Erie 8-4.
- Manuel Leija (125 pounds) got a win in the Ashland match against Cael Woods 4-2 in a sudden victory.
- Crue Cooper (197 pounds) beat Nathan Williams of Ashland 6-2 for his first win of the season.
