Ashland Dialed in From Deep in Win Over Davenport

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Ashland poured in 17 made three-pointers on 37 attempts (45.9 percent) en route to an 82-66 win over Davenport on Saturday to complete the two-game sweep. Those 17 triples are the most by a GLIAC opponent since the Panthers joined the league prior to the 2017-18 season and are the most by any DU opponent at home since Great Lakes Christian made 19 (19-of-44) on Nov. 19, 2018.

Chris Rollins led all scorers with 25 points, three off his career high, on 9-of-17 shooting to go with four rebounds, four assists, two steals, and only one turnover. Rollins has now scored at least 20 points in three of the last four games to push his season average to 17, which is good for fifth in the GLIAC. Big man, Scott Ulaneo, finished with 18 points, eight boards and two helpers to raise his points per game to 14.7, a mark that ranks ninth in the league. Also scoring in double-figures for Davenport was Elijah Belle with 10 as the sophomore has reached that mark in four-straight outings and six of his last seven. Evan Hines also tallied two steals while the team's lone block came from James Felton.

Davenport shot just 28 percent (7-of-25) from the field in the first half as Ashland opened the game with the first nine points and 11 of its initial 13. The Panthers then responded with 11-straight points of their own to take their first and only lead at 13-11. The Eagles took the wind out of the Panthers' sails, though, with a 15-3 spurt that gave them a 10-point advantage, 26-16, and they never looked back. The visitors would go on to lead by as many as 17, 40-23, in the first half and 23, 60-37, in the second. At one point, the home team was able to cut it to eight, 73-65, but no further.

Next up, Davenport will be at Lake Superior State on Friday (3 p.m.) and Saturday (1 p.m.).
