GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport University women's volleyball team was hungry for its first home win and it showed on Homecoming Saturday inside the DU Student Center. Davenport gave head coach,
Brian Netzler, his first victory in front of the Panther faithful and did so in four sets over visiting Wayne State.
Davenport 3, Wayne State 1
(25-21, 15-25, 25-22, 25-16)
- For most of the first set, neither team could really take over as the first 34 total points featured 14 ties and three lead changes.

- The third set was even closer than the first, but it didn't look like it right away as the Panthers scored the first four points and five of the first six.
- The Warriors battled back though and tied it up for the first time in the set at 9-9.
- That score came in the midst of a 11-3 run for Wayne State that made it 18-12 in favor of the visitors.
- From there until the end of the set, though, Davenport scored 13 of a possible 17 points to win the set and go up 2-1 in the match.
- Early in the fourth, the Warriors led by two, 3-1, before the Panthers embarked on a 10-3 that put them ahead by five, 11-6.
- After that, Wayne State could never get closer than two, 14-12, and Davenport led by as many as nine, 24-15 and 25-16.
