Describe your men's volleyball background.
"My volleyball career started my sophomore year of high school when I tried out for the Vortex Volleyball Club in Skokie, Illinois. Fast forward two years to my senior year and I signed my letter of Intent to play volleyball for the Lincoln College Lynx. There, for my first three years, we competed in the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation (NCVF). During my junior season and last year completing in the NCVF, my teammates and I went 45-6 and won the DII National Championship. I was named First-Team All-Conference during the League Championship as well as Second-Team All-Tournament during the National Championship. I come to Davenport as a middle blocker and have played there all of my career."
Why did you choose Davenport?
"I chose DU because of the opportunity to go on a new adventure. After learning that I had two years of eligibility left, it was never in doubt that I was going to take advantage of that opportunity. I'm also pretty excited to live in another state and go to a University with a football team."
What is your favorite non-sport specific hobby/activiy?
"I really like to read. The library is going to be like a second home to me."
Coach Lexa Magnuson's Thoughts
"We are incredibly excited to add an athlete and character of Deantrius' caliber to our program. Deantrius comes from Lincoln College, a program with an established name in the NCVF Tournament. He has proven himself a winner while also receiving conference and national tournament accolades. Therefore, he has already established credibility at our level and knows what it takes to get back to that stage. Deantrius comes to Davenport with the character and fabric to step into a leadership role for us as well."
