CALEDONIA, Mich. – The Panther men's soccer team secured the number three seed for the GLIAC Tournament and will face the number six seed Ashland University at Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex on Monday, Nov. 11 at 4 p.m. Davenport finished the regular season with 28 points, going 9-4-1 in conference play. Davenport will be looking to advance to Friday's semifinal but it won't be easy as the Eagles won both meetings during the regular season. Ashland won 1-0 in Caledonia back on Oct. 11 as Joseph Renner scored in the 67th minute. Ashland recorded five shots on goal compared to three for DU. The teams also played just two days ago in the regular season finale in Ashland. AU picked up a 4-2 win scoring three unanswered goals in the second half.
Carson Brinks was booked for a red card in the 11th minute which changed the complexion of the contest entirely.
Evan Marquess (penalty kick) and
Ryan Zietlow each scored for the Panthers. The Panthers in recent seasons won the GLIAC Tournament in 2017 and did not reach the tournament in 2018.
