DETROIT, Mich. – Davenport opened their 10-game road stint with a doubleheader at GLIAC foe Wayne State University. Coming into the games the Panthers held a 4-2 record in conference, while the Warriors were 0-2. Wayne State defended their home field and defeated Davenport in both games. The offense for Davenport struggled in the second game, scoring zero runs and being limited to only three hits and two walks.
Mallory Teunissen ended her streak of consecutive scoreless innings pitched at 24, spanning over a period of five games.

The Panthers opened the game by taking a 1-0 lead that they held for innings one and two. Koza, who led off the game, earned a trip to first base with a walk. After
Selene Pauley popped up to the first base, Flores reached on a fielding error by the first base and Koza advanced to third. Batting fourth was Griffin, who singled to right center, earning an RBI when Koza scored from third. Teunissen gave up her first run in the third, but all three were considered unearned during the inning. She didn't give up her first earned run until the sixth inning, where the Warriors held a 4-1 lead heading into the top of the seventh. Davenport tried to make a comeback in the final half inning, but after scoring one run their efforts were halted after recording three outs.

The second game did not go the Panthers way. Davenport recorded only three hits and were walked twice on offense. French reached on a fielding error in the third inning and proceeded to steal second base, which is the farthest any Panther got while running the bases. The Warriors picked it up offensively from game one to game two, recording 13 hits for eight runs against Muilenburg.

Davenport looks to end this mini losing streak when they travel to Ohio this weekend. The Panthers play at Ashland on Friday for a DH that starts at 3:30 p.m. and at Tiffin on Saturday for a DH that starts at 1 p.m.
