GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - On a Saturday morning indoors due to cold weather, it was Michigan Tech claiming a 6-1 win over Davenport in GLIAC women's tennis action. Davenport slips to 1-5 overall and in the GLIAC with the loss while Tech is now 6-2 overall and 5-2 in the league.
The Huskies captured all three doubles to earn a point.
Adeline Nelson and
Hannah Murphy lost 6-3 at one doubles.
Bruna Ralheta and
Sophie Gossett dropped a 6-2 decision at two doubles.
Vladislava Shumilova and
Steph Ritson fell at three doubles by a 6-4 score.
Gossett earned a singles point for the Panthers in a unique way as her opponent was taken off the court at five singles and Gossett with a 5-4 lead. Tech won the first three singles in straight sets and Shumilova and Ritson retired due to injury.
