UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The women's tennis team competed in their second GLIAC match of the 2017 season and fell to the Cardinals of Saginaw Valley 8-1. The Panthers put up a fight against the Cardinals in doubles, but were outmatched when it came to singles.
In the doubles
Steph Ritson and
Adeline Nelson earned the Panthers first point of the season. They earned a 9-8 win in the first doubles slot against Donahue and McLaughlin. In the second doubles spot
Terin Everse and
Bridget Barrett were close to getting DU's second point of the match, but were defeated 8-6. The Cardinals won by default in the third double spot.
The Cardinals won all six points during the singles competitions. Ritson competed in the first singles spot and lost 6-2, 6-4. In the second singles slot Nelson lost 6-1, 6-1. Everse lost 6-4, 6-2 in third singles and Barrett lost 6-1, 6-0 in the fourth singles spots. Davenport defaulted the fifth and sixth singles matches.
The women's tennis team will compete next a the ITA Regionals hosted by Grand Valley State. The tournament will take place from September 22-24 in Allendale, Mich.
