Panthers put a beating on Rochester College during doubleheader

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Panthers rolled over Rochester College during their doubleheader today. Both games were cut short due to the large lead that Davenport possessed after five innings of play. Through the two games the Panthers tallied 26 runs and didn't give up one run to the Warriors. Davenport looks to carry this momentum over to their doubleheader at Siena Heights tomorrow in Adrian, Mich.

After one inning of play it seemed like things were going to be tight as both teams went three up and three down. The Panthers flipped the offensive switch in the second inning, pouring in an incredible 10 runs in the inning. Davenport recorded nine hits during the inning to score the 10 runs. The game winning run is credited to Flores, she scored off of a sac fly by Obetts. During the bottom of the third inning the Panthers went off for another seven runs off of eight hits. Davenport scored all 17 runs during the second and third inning. The pitching staff took care of business as well, recording eight strike outs in only 15 outs.

Davenport liked to score in bunches during this sunny Saturday afternoon. The Panthers tallied nine runs during the bottom of the second inning and were held scoreless the other three innings. Tasma recorded the game winning run and Allen drove her in off of a single. Flores homered to center field with two outs to score Brambila and herself. The pitching staff for Davenport were almost perfect as they only gave up two hits during the Warriors 17 at bats.

Davenport travels to Adrian, Mich. to take on Siena Heights for a doubleheader on Sunday, April 9. The games are slotted to start at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
