KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced Tuesday the 2017 Competitive Cheer & Dance (CCD) All-America teams. To achieve NAIA All-America or Honorable Mention status, student-athletes participate in a try-out. Officials judge the athletes during the try-out and All-Americans are determined by the judges' scores. The CCD Coaches Association officers then confirm the list of scores and athletes. Freshman Jessica Richmond (Davisburg, Mich.) received All-American honors from Davenport University.Â
All-American tryouts were held at the Regional Competition at Siena Heights University on February 25. It involved required skills in stunts, standing tumbling, and running tumbling. The stunt sequence was Full Up to Power Press to One-Legged Body Position to Double-Down Twisting Cradle. The standing tumbling was Toe touch and Back tuck. The running tumbling included Round off Backhand Spring Full Twisting layout.
