LAKE WALES, Fla. - The story of Monday's doubleheader sweep by the Davenport baseball team was strength in all facets of offense, pitching and defense. The Panthers picked up a 7-1 win in game one and then downed the Royals 11-1 in game two.
GAME 1
The Panthers scored four times in the top of the third inning to open up a big lead against Warner. Will Harris was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Brandon Larkin-Guilfoyle followed with a two-run double as Harris was thrown out at the plate. Jeremy Vasquez also batted home a run via an error scoring BLG for the fourth run of the inning. DU scored twice more in the fifth inning to take a 7-0 lead. Matt Hoge delivered an RBI single and Brian Sobieski reached on a fielder's choice. The Royals scored on a passed ball for their lone run in the bottom of the sixth.

GAME 2
Larkin-Guilfoyle got things going in the top of the third with a three-run bomb scoring Oscar Heredia and Sobieski. Cameron Bair also tripled home Jake Bozzo in the fourth and Vasquez executed a RBI sacrifice bunt scoring Bair. Vasquez was hit by a pitch with the bases juiced in the fifth to take an 8-0 lead. Hoge drew a walk for an easy RBI as did Bozzo for a 10-0 advantage. Matt Crook singled home Larkin-Guilfoyle in the sixth to finish up the scoring for the Panthers.Â
