MIDLAND, Mich. - DU traveled to take on NCAA DII Northwood University Sunday afternoon in a double header with the Timberwolves. DU fought to a split with Northwood as they took a decisive game one, 6-3, before Northwood came back in game two to force the split and put the overall record for DU at 18-7.
DU broke game one wide open in the second inning of game one as the pushed three runs across the plate.
Sarah Schneidenbach put DU on the board with an RBI that scored

Carli SanMillan then came to the plate and singled to right that scored
Lauren French while a Northwood error allowed
Haley Obetts to cross the plate as DU took the 3-1 lead.
The Panthers added to their lead in the third with another big three-run inning sparked by
Alyssa Eastman as she hit her seventh home run of the season. Obetts added to the Panther lead with an RBI single that scored Tasma and French scored following an error by the Northwood short stop as DU jumped out to a 6-1 lead. The Timberwolves would a pair of runs in the fifth, but the Panthers would shut the door in the remaining innings to take the 6-3 win.
Tasma went 1-for-3 at the plate with a walk and two runs scored. Eastman went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored and Obetts had a 1-for-2 game and one RBI and one run scored. Starting pitcher
Emily Maves (10-3) earned the win in the circle for DU with her 12
th complete game of the season. She struck out six batters in seven innings pitched and allowed two earned runs.
The Panthers would then grab the lead early in game two. Schneidenbach hit an RBI single to second base the drove in
Nicole Vitale and French scored on a throwing error by the Northwood second baseman. The Timberwolves would tie the game in the bottom of the second on a two-run home run and the teams would battle at this 2-2 score until the fifth. Obetts then gave DU the lead with an RBI double down the right field line that drove in Vitale and the Panthers took a 3-2 lead. Northwood answered with a big three-run fifth inning and added a run in the sixth that gave the Panthers a 6-3 deficit. The Panthers would look to rally in their final at bat as they loaded the bases following back-to-back hits from French and Obetts, and
McKenzie Rowe followed with a base-on-balls.
Aby Brambila then came to the plate and earned the RBI after she was hit by a pitch and DU cut the Northwood lead to 6-4. The Timberwolves would shut the door from there as DU left the bases loaded and fell by the 6-4 final score.
Rowe had a 2-for-3 game with two walks and French went 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored as a part of an offensive performance that saw eight Panthers record a hit.
Mallory Teunissen (7-3) took the decision in the circle for the Panthers with a complete game and three strike outs.
