FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 2 Davenport baseball team saw its school-record win streak come to an end at 24 Saturday after trailing Indiana Tech all throughout game one in the Panthers 11-5 game-one defeat. DU did get back on the winning track quickly as a seven-run first inning highlighted by
Brendan Bender's three-run home run set up a 15-8 win in the nightcap.

The two teams meet again at Warriors Stadium Sunday at 1 p.m.

Game 1 – Indiana Tech 11, Davenport 5Despite getting through 6 2/3 innings,
Corey Murphy (5-2) allowed seven runs, four earned, on nine hits, two walks and errors each while throwing 83 pitches.

Davenport (34-3, 18-1 WHAC) found itself in a hole trailing 4-0 until the fourth inning. The Panthers managed to get two runs across with back-to-back inning-opening doubles by
Dre Celestijn and
Zac Wilson.
Cam Cooper brought the first run in with a fielder's choice and an error cut the deficit to one run (4-3).

The Panthers kept it as close as two runs during the midpoint of the game but a four-run eighth inning enabled the Warriors (13-19, 8-9 WHAC) to put the game out of reach.

Stranded runners proved to be a problem for the Panthers as they left 11 on base.

Game 2 – Davenport 15, Indiana Tech 8It didn't take very long for the Panthers to get on the board to start game two.
Connor Seymour opened the contest off with a double to right center and
Jordan Zylstra followed with a single through the left side to setup for Bender's three-run shot to right center.
Matt Priebe kept the momentum going with a base hit to left, Celestijn reached on an error and
Zac Wilson loaded the bases with a single through a hole on the left side.
Brandon Cable drew a walk to force in a run and making his second trip to the plate Seymour delivered a two-run single and Zylstra copied off the fellow middle infielder to give Davenport a 7-0 lead.

Two more runs were added in the second inning when
Zac Wilson hit a two-run blast to right.

Leading 13-2 in the fourth, the Panthers got caught in a jam when the Warriors tallied six runs. But the Panthers held Indiana Tech scoreless the rest of the way.

Anthony Alarcon (6-0) picked up his sixth win even though he went 3 1/3 innings on the mound. He conceded five runs on six hits and three walks.
Jonathan Cheshire tossed 3 2/3 innings to earn his ninth save of the season.
