Law Hits Milestone in 94-83 Win Over Indiana Tech

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Tiesha Stokes continued her consistent play Saturday afternoon as she led the Panthers to a 2-0 mark in the WHAC following a 94-83 victory over Indiana Tech. The Panthers notched their third-straight win of the season after they pulled away from a seven-point halftime advantage to secure their 11-point win to put their overall record at 3-2.

Head Coach Robyn Scherr-Wells commented on the impact players of the game, "I thought Lauren Brower had a great game. She got us off to a great start in the first half. Tiesha continues to be a force with another double-double, and I felt Molly Babbs had her best game of the season. It was a solid game by our team. We continue to get better everyday."

The Panthers earned a 27-18 lead after the first quarter, but the Warriors fought back to win the second quarter and keep the DU lead at seven points heading into the break.
Stokes would lead DU to a second half victory as she went on to compile a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds for the game. The Panthers pulled away in the third quarter as they extended their lead to 18 points behind the play of Amanda Merz and Lauren Brower as they would go on to combine for 27 points in the game. The Panthers seemed to always answer the Warrior attempts to climb back into the game with double-digit scoring efforts from Chri Carter and Alex Law that helped seal the Panther victory.

"We beat a talented Indiana Tech team today. They hung tough with us when we had opportunities to blow the game open. We made a few mistakes down the stretch, but I felt our kids played with confidence and I never felt the game was in question", said Scherr-Wells.

DU earned their victory as they caused 19 Warrior turnovers and compiled 13 steals. The Panthers capitalized on this stifling defense as they turned those turnovers into 13 points. DU also made its presence felt on the glass as they won the rebounding margin, 46-33, and recorded 24 second chance points. Senior Alex Law hit a career milestone in the game as she reached 1,000 career points following her 12-point performance.

Scherr-Wells commented on Law hitting a career milestone. "It was nice to see Alex Law go out and score her 1,000th career point. She is such a selfless player that always puts her teammates first. Seeing how excited her teammates were for her just shows the quality of her character and what her leadership means to them."
