Robyn Scherr-Wells

Davenport University Head Women's Basketball Coach Robyn Scherr-Wells enters her 2nd season at the helm of the Panthers. Named the third coach in school history on August 10, 2015, Scherr-Wells guided the Panthers to their 10th consecutive WHAC Regular Season Championship and WHAC Tournament Championship in her first season with Davenport. The Panthers finished their first season under Scherr-Wells with a 28-6 record and a second round appearance in the NAIA National Tournament, boasting the nation's No. 3 scoring offense (84.0 ppg). The Panthers featured three All-WHAC selections, including Second Team All-American Alex Law and finished with a final ranking of No. 11 in the NAIA national poll.

Scherr-Wells came to Davenport after spending five seasons at Roosevelt University (2010-2015) in Chicago in which she built the program from the ground up and compiled an overall record of 85-73.

While at Roosevelt, the 2012-13 season marked the program's arrival as a national competitor. Scherr-Wells guided the Lakers, in just their third season of existence, to CCAC regular season and tournament titles, marking the University's first-ever conference crowns. The team earned a spot in the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship, where the Lakers advanced to the Sweet 16. Scherr-Wells' squad finished the year with a school-record 28 wins while ranking No. 10 in the final national poll.

Scherr-Wells ensured the Lakers were not a one-hit wonder, posting 21 wins, rising as high as No. 5 in the national rankings and making a return trip to the national tournament the following year. That season concluded a historic run for her inaugural recruiting class, a group featured two-time NAIA All-American and four-time All-CCAC honoree Casey Davis, who tallied 2,203 career points.

Scherr-Wells compiled 85 wins in her team's five seasons of competition, while her coaching acumen also garnered her many personal accolades. She was a two-time Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) NAIA Division II Coach of the Year (2013, 2014) during her tenure with the Lakers, while also being named Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) and Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Region IV Coach of the Year following the 2012-13 campaign.

A native of Glen Ellyn, Ill., Scherr-Wells has always had a passion for the game of basketball. She played on the No. 2 team in the nation in 1995 as a member of the AAU Illinois Hustle and went on to Michigan where she joined the women's basketball team. With the Wolverines, Scherr-Wells started as a manager/practice player as a freshman and eventually earned an athletic scholarship her sophomore season for her role in that capacity for the squad.

Following graduation, Scherr-Wells played for Athletes in Action during their tour of Spain in 2001 before heading to the University of Arizona where she served for three years on the campus ministry staff for Athletes in Action, working closely with the student-athletes and coaches. In 2005, she returned to the University of Michigan to be the administrative assistant for the women's basketball team, serving in various capacities with the team under the mentorship of Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Coach Cheryl Burnett.

After one year in Ann Arbor, Mich., Scherr-Wells headed to the northwest, becoming the assistant women's basketball coach at Portland State. With the Vikings during the 2006-07 season, she coached the perimeter players and helped develop rookie Claire Faucher into the Big Sky Conference Most Outstanding Freshman. Scherr-Wells also served as the academic coordinator for the team, handled all team travel, scouted opponents and coordinated the film exchange program among other duties.
Scherr-Wells left Portland State following that season to take on the role of Senior Admissions Counselor at Northern Arizona University, where she stayed for one year before returning to Chicago and joining the Roosevelt staff.

Scherr-Wells, married to Ryan Wells, is a 2001 graduate of the University of Michigan and earned her Masters of Business Administration from Roosevelt in 2014.
